(Fantasy/fairy tale, 100 words)

Here’s a 100-word story I submitted to a contest. The given prompt was Fantasy/fairy tale genre; max length of 100 words or less; and required action of “pouncing.” I wrote it in about ten minutes with almost no editing due to time constraints.

I’m pouncing on a rat in the corner of my castle dungeon, biting into it as it squeals for its miserable existence. It pains me—this desperation and decent into the unimaginable, but I need sustenance for my planned escape. And here it comes an hour later, just as promised by the three-eyed spy who dared betray the king and set me free to rule my old kingdom across the fire sea and beyond the white forest. I pry loose a bar on my prison window then jump onto the wing of the dragon swooping from on high, toward salvation.
